In the Garden was born from a desire to make horticulture accessible to all. Small space gardening is achievable!
A shared passion, to make making gardening accessible in small spaces, 1 container at a time.
We started as (and always will be) a motivated mother-daughter duo, wanting to achieve what we couldn’t see around us. A plant shop with a personal touch unlike big commercial gardening centres. We wanted to bring plants and container gardening to the high street!
With some plants, second-hand pots and a van, we started a stall at a Beaconsfield Market, collecting and planting with a flair for beautiful design.
Over a decade later, we’ve only continued to grow. Having had a stall at the reputable Golborne Road & Portobello Market (for over 10 year’s now!), and an abundantly ethereal collection of plants in our Mill-Lane Shop since 2019. We are so proud to say that 2023 saw us achieve our first RHS Gold medal for our House plants & Container Gardening exhibit and now going into 2026 we have achieved 5 RHS Golds in total, enjoyed our own segment on BBC’s Gardeners’ World in 2024 as well as being in national press for our container gardening top tips in 2025!
On a daily basis we work with plants and buy from the best auction houses available, from local growers in England to Dutch and Belgium suppliers. We are a retail shop in North West London serving local customers while working with big brands alongside this.
Taking inspiration from nature, the seasons and our surroundings, our designs work in harmony to suit your lifestyle, taste and budget. We take pride in being a professional and effective solution to brighten up your home and business space, indoors and out. Plants and planting design is achievable in any given space.

In 2023 we had a successful debut at RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden winning a Gold Medal for Houseplants & Container Gardening and the New Design Award – an insane double whammy!
We then visited the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May 2024 with a studio exhibit, Maximalist Verdure: Indoor Gardening in Small Spaces, we acheived a second accolade: an RHS Gold Medal!
Malvern Garden Buildings described the installation as, ‘a feast of foliage influenced by Victorian trendsetters,’ and ‘a rich tapestry, focusing on leaf shape, texture, and colour.’
We set the scene in an eclectic city apartment, designed to be an Aladdin’s trove of houseplants, celebrating individual style and the beauty of compact living spaces. Plants in the home have their own story, just like their presentation containers, they become an expression of our identity. In a nutshell, we rolled everything we love into one diverse, living and breathing indoor plant exhibit, just like our urban plant shop to illustrate a maximalist indoor landscape.
Our labour of love has been given so much recognition, we couldn’t be more thankful to have the opportunity to share our passion and craft!
Summer 2024, we exhibited at BBC Gardener’s World Live, where we were awarded with a Platinum Medal for our Houseplant & Container Gardening exhibit.
Just when we thought all our dreams had come true, we were presented with Best Retail Area in the Floral Marquee AND the Geoff Hamilton Award for Best In Show. Insane. Moving forward in 2025, the pace didn’t stop and we are so proud to say we achieve two more RHS Golds Medals with our Houseplant exhibits at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and at RHS Hampton Court in July, making us 5 times RHS Gold Medalists.Our attention to details and focus on design is something we pride ourselves on.
We wouldn’t be able to work and create in the spaces we are, without the constant support of friends and family. Our customers bringing their ceramics and stories, and our market community ever-embracing, it all fills us with an unbounding gratitude.
